The E-LEC Standard

What clients notice before they ever see the wiring.

The best electrical businesses do more than install. They communicate clearly, protect the property, document the work and make the client feel confident that everything has been done properly and in accordance with the standards. It's the standard the E-LEC team holds itself to on every job.

Standards + compliance

Electrical work governed by requirements, not guesswork.

The exact obligations depend on the work performed and the installation. Hover, focus or tap a requirement to see where it can affect your job.

INSTALLATION

The Wiring Rules set the core requirements for selecting and installing electrical equipment and wiring.

What this means for you

Requirements for items such as circuit protection, RCDs, earthing, cable routes and equipment locations can affect the proposed design. Existing defects or unsuitable equipment may need to be rectified or clearly reported before new work can be completed safely.

Commonly relevant to: new circuits, renovations, switchboards, appliances, lighting and additions.

VERIFICATION

This standard provides methods used to inspect and test electrical installations.

What this means for you

Completed work must be inspected and tested as required before being placed into service. Testing can identify existing faults or unsafe conditions that were not visible when the job was first scoped.

Commonly relevant to: polarity, earthing continuity, insulation resistance, circuit checks and RCD testing.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA

WA electrical and network requirements govern supply arrangements and work that interfaces with the electricity network.

What this means for you

Service upgrades, metering changes, consumer mains, temporary power and some connection work may require network involvement, approvals or specific installation arrangements. This can affect the job sequence, timing and external fees.

Commonly relevant to: Western Power connections, point of attachment, metering, mains and supply upgrades.

NOTICES + CERTIFICATES

WA regulations govern electrical licensing and when notices and safety certificates are required.

What this means for you

Depending on the work, required notices may be lodged with the network operator and an Electrical Safety Certificate provided to the customer. Different scopes have different documentation obligations, but legally required documents form part of the job.

Commonly relevant to: notifiable work, completion notices, electrical safety certificates and licensed electrical work.

SAFE WORKING

Safe-working requirements guide isolation and work on or near low-voltage installations.

What this means for you

Power may need to be isolated and work areas kept clear while electrical work is completed. Energised work is not performed merely for convenience, and access conditions such as roof spaces can change how and when work proceeds.

Commonly relevant to: safe isolation, switchboards, occupied sites, roof spaces and coordination with other trades.

Requirements vary by scope. Existing defects or unsafe conditions may need to be addressed or clearly reported before work can proceed or be energised.

Watch a job move from enquiry to handover.

01

Tell us what you need and send photos where helpful. The more we can see up front, the more accurate the scope.

02

Scope reviewed

We check access, cable route, switchboard condition, product selection and any likely compliance considerations.

03

Pricing confirmed

You receive clear pricing before work starts where possible. Fault finding and hidden issues may need investigation first.

04

Work completed

Installed, tested, cleaned up and documented appropriate to the scope — with the property protected throughout.

05

Handover issued

Certificates, notices, photos, manuals and records are provided where required for the work completed.

FAQ

Good questions, answered.

Is the guide price a fixed quote?

No. The guide price is a rough budget range to help you plan. Final pricing is confirmed after we review the scope, access, switchboard condition and product selection. See the Guide Price disclaimer.

Do you do commercial work?

Yes — commercial fit-outs, alterations, tenancy works, maintenance and close-out documentation. See Commercial Electrical.

What areas do you service?

Perth metro and the Perth Hills, including Mundaring and Kalamunda. Travel charges or minimum call-out fees may apply by location; jobs outside the standard area are considered case by case.

Will you need to turn the power off?

Often, yes. To work safely we usually need to isolate power to part of the property — and sometimes the whole property — while we carry out the work. We keep any outage as short and planned as we can, and let you know beforehand so you can prepare.

Can I request my handover pack later?

Yes. Request another copy from your handover pack — we verify your identity before releasing documents.

Do you provide emergency service?

For immediate danger — fire, electric shock, smoke, burning smells or exposed live parts — contact emergency services on 000, or Western Power's faults & emergencies line on 13 13 51, straight away. Do not rely on email, web forms or messaging apps for urgent electrical safety concerns.
